White bean hummus Mediterranean Style

Silky smooth Mediterranean style white bean hummus. Keeps you dipping vegetables and tearing flatbread for a casual meal or moment.

Serves: 8-10 servings
  • 2 16oz cans of northern beans drained
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • Water to cover the beans
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 3 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice
  • ½ cup of tahini
  • 10-12 large basil leaves
  • ½ cup olive oil and 2 tablespoons
  • 1 tablespoon za'atar spice
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil.
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • Black pepper to taste
  1. Drain the beans and place them in a large saucepan.
  2. Add the baking soda by sprinkling into the saucepan. Stir to combine well and evenly.
  3. Add water to cover the beans and cook on a medium heat for 20 minutes. This softens the skins of the beans to get that silken texture.
  4. Drain after cooking for 20 minutes using a sieve.
  5. Place beans into a food processor with the garlic,lemon juice, tahini, basil, salt and pepper.
  6. Pulse in the food processor until smooth and creamy. You may need to stir halfway to lift any stray beans into the mixture.
  7. Once combined and smooth place into a serving bowl.
  8. Add the olive oil on top and garnish with one tablespoon of za'atar spice
